Community Experiences at Brook Meadow

01.

Nature Walks and Trails

Visit the meadow and wander across the grass paths or stay on the raised path by the river. If the weather has been wet, be prepared for muddy conditions.

In summer months, follow a trail to find different plants and habitats. Find all the trails in one of the leaflet boxes at the access gates.

Dogs are welcome, but please pick up poo and place it in one of the special bins near the access gates.

02.

Wildlife Observation

Immerse yourself in the vibrant ecosystem of Brook Meadow with our wildlife observation activities. You’ll have the opportunity to spot a variety of birds and insects and an impressive number of different plants.

If you have some time, sit on one of the benches and immerse yourself in the wonders of nature. Learn to identify local species and appreciate their significance within our delicate environment.

Wildlife monitoring is encouraged. Plant counts and butterfly transects are conducted. Recent results can be viewed on the Resources page.

03.

Volunteering

Get more from the meadow by joining our volunteer sessions. Held on the first Sunday and third Thursday of each month, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, these friendly sessions will take you to the next level.

Enjoy being out in the fresh air and de-stress, with lots of different activities to suit your abilities. There is a refreshment break where you can network and make new friends too.

04.

Child-Friendly Features

Brook Meadow hosts annual events for local primary schools where pupils, supervised by their teachers, visit to put up decorations and get involved in creating wildlife habitats.

Families can enjoy a secluded picnic in the child friendly area which can be entered through the living willow arch.
